THE BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The cloud has
an address.

Discover the buildings, systems and people that keep our digital world running. One clear explanation at a time.

No engineering degree required. Just curiosity.

START WITH WHY.

A photo. A payment. A video call.
Behind every digital moment is a physical system.

LESSON 01 / FOUNDATIONS

Follow one photo
into the cloud.

A short animated walkthrough.

01

The cloud is physical.

Digital services depend on real computers, networks and facilities.

02

Systems work together.

Compute, storage and networking depend on supporting infrastructure.

03

People make it reliable.

Monitoring, maintenance and careful changes are part of the story.

FIELD NOTES / YOUR FIRST FIVE WORDS

Less jargon.
More understanding.

Good explanations start with a shared vocabulary.

Server +

A computer that provides a service to other computers or devices, such as responding to a request for a photo.

Rack +

A frame that holds equipment. A rack is furniture for the hardware, not itself a computer.

Network +

Connected devices and links that allow information to move between systems.

Cloud storage +

A service that lets you store and retrieve data using infrastructure operated by a provider.

Redundancy +

Additional capacity or paths intended to help a system continue through specified failures or maintenance. It is not a promise that nothing can go wrong.

BUILT FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Everyone starts
with a question.

Data Centers with Mladen is a personal educational project by Mladen Mijakić. Our aim is to make data center knowledge approachable, practical and worth sharing — from your first day in the industry to a deeper understanding of the infrastructure around us.

Original explanations. Sources you can follow. Curiosity encouraged. This project is independent of any employer or client.
